TVTFCU Celebrates 90th Anniversary

The Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union (TVTFCU) in Enfield recently celebrated a remarkable milestone, 90 years of serving its members, with a day of appreciation filled with food, fun, and gratitude. Members and staff enjoyed complimentary treats from a local food truck and ice cream truck, along with anniversary giveaways and a festive atmosphere that reflected the credit union's appreciation for the people who have made the past nine decades possible.
Founded in 1936 by a group of Board of Education employees, TVTFCU began as the North Central Connecticut School Employees Federal Credit Union. In its early years, members even signed loan documents in the manager's living room as the credit union operated out of a private home. As membership continued to grow, the credit union expanded its services, moved into larger facilities, and eventually became Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union, serving members in Enfield, East Windsor, Windsor, Windsor Locks, Somers and Suffield. Today, while much has changed, the credit union remains committed to the same philosophy it was founded on, providing personalized financial services while putting members first.
Throughout its 90-year history, TVTFCU has helped generations of members reach important financial milestones, from opening their first savings accounts, purchasing their first vehicles and homes to financing higher education. The anniversary celebration served as both a thank you to current members and a tribute to those who have supported the credit union over the years.
"This anniversary is really about celebrating our members," said Cynthia Sikes, CEO/Manager of the Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union. "For 90 years, our members have placed their trust in us during some of life's biggest moments. We are incredibly grateful for that trust and for the relationships we've built over the generations. While we're proud of our history, we're equally excited about our future and continuing to provide the friendly, personal service that has always set our credit union apart."
TVTFCU continues to evolve by offering innovative products and services while remaining true to its roots as a member-owned financial cooperative. As the credit union celebrates this milestone year, it looks forward to continuing its mission of helping members achieve their financial goals for generations to come.
